Spiced Red Cabbage (German Version)

Ingredients

head red cabbage, diced

vegetable oil

cup
chopped onion

tart apple, quartered

Tbsp
tarragon or red vinegar

Tbsp
sugar

bay leaf

tsp
salt
¼
tsp
pepper
⅛
tsp
ground cloves
Instructions
Place cabbage in a large pan of boiling salted water; boil for 1 minute.
Drain, return to pan.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Cover and simmer for 1 hour or until cabbage is tender and apples are completely cooked.
