Soft Baking Powder Biscuit

Ingredients

All-purpose Flour

tbsp
Sugar

baking powder
1/2
tsp
cream of tartar
1/2
tsp
salt
1/2
cup
shortening
1
egg
2/3
cup
milk
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Beat egg and milk; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
Turn onto a lightly floured surface; roll to ½-in. thickness.
Cut with a 2-½-in. biscuit cutter; place on an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 450 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
This is a biscuit that holds together very well. Not as crumbly as most biscuits.
