Kayla's Salted Caramel Rice Krispy Treats

Ingredients

  • 1 box Rice Krispies
  • 1 cube butter
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1-2 tsp salt I like 2 tsp
  • 1 10 oz bag Werthers soft caramels
  • 1 1/2 bags marshmallows

Instructions

  • Brown half to all the Rice Krispies in a 400 degree oven stirring every 5 minutes or so. This step is optional.
  • Brown 1 stick of butter then add 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
  • I let that get all carmelly
  • Add 1-2 tsp salt and the Werthers caramels
  • Once its all melted and there are yummy brown bits, I remove it from the stove
  • Add one bag of marshmallows, then the rice krispies. Stir well.
  • When its cooled a bit, I stir in the other 1/2 bag of marshmallows just depending on how I feel about it
  • A trick for forming rice krispies is wet/damp hands. They won't stick to water so that helps when I'm pushing so much stickiness into the pan.

Notes

I had added malted milk powder but I don't usually.  It made them more creamy and sweet than normal.
