Red Sauce

For spaghetti, lasagna, etc. I got this recipe from a friend who had lived in Italy.

Ingredients

  • 2 large cans of tomatoes
  • 1 6 oz tomato paste
  • 2-3 Tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp chicken paste
  • 1-2 Tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • dash paprika
  • dash pepper
  • 2 Tbsp basil
  • 2 Tbsp sugar

Instructions

  • In large saucepan, cook onion in olive oil until glassy. 
  • Add tomatoes and cook for 1-2 min. to break down tomatoes. 
  • Add remaining sauce ingredients.
  • (If making Pasta al Forno, add peas at this time)  
  • Heat to boiling and then put on low to simmer for 15-20 min.
