Pie Crust

Course: Desserts, Pies
1st Gen Author: Carol Turley

Ingredients

  • 3 scant cups flour
  • 1 heaping cup shortening
  • 1 Tbsp Salt
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 5 Tbsp water

Instructions

  • Combine into bowl the flour shortening and salt. Using a pastry knife (or just your hands) cut shortening into flour and salt mixture.
  • In separate bowl combine (I use a large glass measuring cup) the beaten egg, vinegar, and water.
  • Mix the liquid into the flour mixture and then divide into half and roll out on floured board.
  • Makes enough for a double crust 9" pie.

Notes

I have tried other pie crust recipes and they were always too hard to handle. This makes a great tasting crust and is easier to handle.
