Buttermilk Syrup

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp soda

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt and brown the butter.
  • Whisk in the sugar and buttermilk.
  • Stir until it starts to boil and boil for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and add vanilla and soda.

Notes

Browning the butter gives this syrup a caramel flavor.  Super yummy on my Overnight Sourdough Waffles or anything including ice cream.
