Soft Baking Powder Biscuit
Ingredients
- 2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 2/3 cup milk
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt.
- Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Beat egg and milk; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
- Turn onto a lightly floured surface; roll to ½-in. thickness.
- Cut with a 2-½-in. biscuit cutter; place on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 450 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
This is a biscuit that holds together very well. Not as crumbly as most biscuits.
