Ginger Snaps

Ingredients

  • ½ cup shortening
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 2 ¼ cups flour
  • 2 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp cinnmon
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar

Instructions

  • Cream together shortening, butter, brown sugar, egg & molasses. minutes.
  • Blend in remaining ingredients except 2 Tbsp. Sugar. 
  • Chill dough for 1 hour. 
  • Form into balls, roll in sugar.  Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 for 9 to 10 minutes

Notes

This is Grandpa Lybbert’s favorite cookie.  I like mine soft and chewy…if you want them crisp then just bake them a little longer
