Suzanne’s Old Fashioned Pumpkin Pie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pumpkin puree
  • cups heavy cream or 1 12 oz can of evaporated milk
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar packed
  • cup white sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp cardamom
  • ½ tsp lemon zest

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°.
  • Mix sugars, salt, spices and lemon zest in a large bowl.
  • In a separate small bowl, beat the eggs and add to the large bowl.
  • Stir in the pumpkin puree.
  • Stir in heavy cream
  • Whisk all together until well imcorporated.
  • Pour into an unbaked pie shell.
  • Bake at 425° for 15 min. Reduce temp to 350° and bake for another 40-50 min. or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

Notes

Jontana doesn’t normally like pumpkin pies. He go this recipe on his mission and said he loved it!
