Suzanne’s Old Fashioned Pumpkin Pie Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups pumpkin puree
- 1½ cups heavy cream or 1 12 oz can of evaporated milk
- ½ cup dark brown sugar packed
- ⅓ cup white sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp cardamom
- ½ tsp lemon zest
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°.
- Mix sugars, salt, spices and lemon zest in a large bowl.
- In a separate small bowl, beat the eggs and add to the large bowl.
- Stir in the pumpkin puree.
- Stir in heavy cream
- Whisk all together until well imcorporated.
- Pour into an unbaked pie shell.
- Bake at 425° for 15 min. Reduce temp to 350° and bake for another 40-50 min. or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
