COOK MODE
1st Gen Author: Alane Watkins

Ingredients

  • 6 cups milk —- warmed (not too hot or you kill the yeast)
  • 1 1/2 cups butter— softened
  • 3 tbsp yeast
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup ground cardamom
  • 5 lbs flour —- plus or minus
  • 3 teas salt

Instructions

  • Mix ingredients together. Add enough flour so dough is not too sticky. Cover and let rise 2 hours. Punch down. Grab a hunk of dough about the size of a golf ball. Roll dough with hands to form a 12 inch snake. Coil dough up in a circle. Dip the roll into melted butter and then cinnamon and sugar mixture. Place on greased cookie sheet. Let rise till doubled. Bake at 375F for 20 minutes. Great with hot chocolate!
These rolls are meant for dunking! Mom use to store them in a paper bag till they were hard as rocks! She also used the whole cardamom seeds which she crushed with a hammer!
