Mom used to love to play the piano and sing. We all loved hearing her sing during the day. Later in our lives we found an old recording that we had made for Grandpa Lybbert. It had cute little voices of us children. To our delight it also had a recording of our mother playing the piano and singing an old ballad named “Tom Dooley.” She sang the song dramatically and emphatically like she was Marilyn Monroe. She closed the performance by taunting, “How did you like that, Honey? Now I am going to bed with my pajamas locked tight so don’t wake me when you get home.” She was so embarrassed by the recording that she never allowed it to be played in her presence. It is quite possible that she destroyed all the copies. (hee hee, she thinks she did. But we have a secret copy!)
