Gary and Alane were included in a trip to Yellowstone. It’s hard to remember ages but Alane was probably about 7 or 8 and Gary about 9 or 10. Also on the trip were Uncle Kenneth, Aunt Mildred and Uncle Kenney’s friend, Billy. Billy, Mom, and Dad were in the front seat of the car. Dad was driving and Alane and Gary were in the back seat. Uncle Kenny and Aunt Mildred were in their own car. We came to a place in Yellowstone where the road was lined with bears. Cars were backed up looking at the bears. A cub approached our car. Billy quickly rolled up his window. Mom said, “Oh come on Billy! You’re not afraid of a little bear like that are you?” Embarrassed, Billy rolled his window back down. The cub crawled through the window and bit Billy squarely on the arm. What an experience for two young children observing in the back seat!
