Beaver Lodge Rice Krispy Treats

Ingredients

  • 3 cubes butter
  • 3-6 Tbps vanilla
  • 3 16 oz bags Kraft marshmallows
  • 30 cups Rice Krispies
  • 6-9 cups miniature marshmallows

Instructions

  • Melt 1 cube of butter in microwave.
  • Stir in 1-2 tsp. vanilla.
  • Add 16 oz. Kraft marshmallows. Blend and coat with the butter/vanilla mixture.
  • Microwave in 1 minute intervals until fully melted.
  • Add 6 cups Rice Krispies and stir well.
  • Stir in 2-3 cups mini marshmallows.
  • Blend well and add 4 more cups Rice Krispies.
  • Spread in a buttered 11×13 pan. The layer will be pretty thin.
  • Repeat this process 3 times building each layer on top of the first.

Notes

When Emily and I went to Sharon Carnline’s funeral, these Rice Krispy treats were talked about from the pulpit and served at the funeral.  Apparently they were Sharon’s favorite! They were humongous and filled with marshmallow goodness!  Emily and I sought out the person who brought them (Sharon’s sister, Anita) and she gladly shared this yummy recipe with us. 
Obviously, you don’t need to make a batch as big as this recipe, it’s very easy to cut down.  Just know that they can feed a very large crowd.   I’ve never thrown any out.  They are scrumptious.  
Anita was adamant that you use the brand name Rice Kripy’s as they seem to work better but I’ve fudged on that at least once.
