Pear Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups pears peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup pecans chopped & toasted (optional but recommended)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 & lightly grease two large loaf pans.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine oil, sugar & eggs.  Beat well.
  • Stir in pears, pecans and vanilla.
  • In another bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. 
  • Stir dry ingredients into the pear mixture.  Mix well.
  • Pour batter into loaf pans.  Bake for 60 minutes or until done.
  • Allow loaves to cool in pans for 10 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool completely.
