Butter both sides of the bread. (When buttering the opposite side, place on a plate and use a pancake turner to pick up.), cut the middle of the bread out with the top of a glass or biscuit cutter.
Place on a hot griddle.
Crack egg into hole of bread.
Griddle both sides until nice and brown, yet don’t overcook the egg.
The little round piece you cut out can be fried on both sides and used to dip into the egg.
