Butterhorns

Ingredients

In Bread mixer combine the following ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp yeast
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 1 cup warm mashed potatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs

For glaze, mix together:

  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Approx. 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Mix thoroughly and add 3 c flour.
  •  Mix 10 minutes & let stand for 1 hr.
  • Then add 3 c more flour.
  • Let stand 1 hr.
  • Punch down dough (I just mix with mixer till there are no bubbles anymore) then roll out onto oiled surface.
  • Roll out to ½” thickness.
  • Melt ½ c butter and spread evenly over entire dough.
  • Sprinkle with approx. ½ to ¾ c white sugar.
  • Sprinkle liberally with Cinnamon.
  • Roll up.  Cut 1” slices.
  • Place on greased cookie sheet.  Let rise 20-30 minutes (til double in size).
  • Bake in preheated oven 375 for approx. 15-20 min.
  • Glaze while hot.
