Mock Almond Roca

Ingredients

  • 40 soda crackers
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 12oz pkg chocolate chips
  • 1 cup nuts

Instructions

  • Line an ungreased cookie sheet with 40 soda crackers (or whatever fits).  In a saucepan, melt brown sugar and margarine; boil for 4 minutes.  Pour over crackers.  Bake at 350 for 4 minutes.  Remove from the oven.  Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and let them melt.  Spread melted chocolate.  Sprinkle with nuts.  Cool.  Crack into pieces.

Notes

We made these one Sunday when in a pinch for a dessert to feed the missionaries.  One missionary refused to try it because it was made with crackers.  He could tell that we were all enjoying them so much that he finally relented and tried them and LOVED them!  Be brave…try them.  -Alane
