Copycat Outback Steakhouse Onion Soup
Ingredients
- 2 cups sweet onions thinly sliced
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 cups chicken broth I usually use the chicken paste to make my broth
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- ¼ cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
- 1 cup celery chopped
White Sauce:
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 3 Tbsp flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1½ cups whole milk
Instructions
- In 2 quart sauce pan place 3 Tbsp butter and sliced onions
- Cook at low to medium heat stirring frequently until onions are translucent
- Add chicken broth, salt, pepper, and stir until completely heated through.
- Create your white sauce, by mixing butter and flour, then gradually add milk. add salt
- Add shredded cheese to white sauce. This sauce should be thick.
- Add white sauce to your chicken broth mixture. Let simmer for about 30 minutes.
- Serve and garnish with additionally cheddar cheese.
