Basic Sourdough Starter
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 3 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 cups warm water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Beat well with a wooden/plastic spoon (not metal).
- Cover, let sit in a warm place. Fermentation will dissolve remaining lumps. Let ferment for 2 to 3 days. Stir everyday. Refrigerate after fermentation occurs.
- To replenish starter add equal amounts of flour and water (for instance 1 c water, 1 c flour)
