Gary passed away April 26, 2010, Alane had this talk Gary gave in Sacrament Meeting on 10/28/07 on Hope.  We’ve included his testimony from that talk:

I would like to add that as I grew up in a family strong in the gospel and found myself in later years doubting myself and a lot of other things that were of the church, one thing I never did was doubt my testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and the hope that my parents and brother and sisters had in me to one day return in full force to the gospel. Because of that hope and faith and love shown to me I was able to once again return to the gospel with the help of my family. Fresh with a hope of an eternal family, a family that by living the true covenants and teachings of Jesus Christ will be reunited in its entirety in the celestial kingdom and forever to be together in love and harmony. The opportunity afforded me to be able to repent of my sins and to carry forward in righteousness because of the atonement of Jesus Christ and the hope it gives me to accomplish this without fear of denial into the kingdom as long as I continue to live worthy and exemplify the teachings of Christ.

I bare witness to you of the truthfulness of this gospel and that Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of God who in these last days restored the true church with all the keys and blessings afforded us. I know that President Hinckley is a true prophet of god as well and that he receives inspiration and revelation to continue to lead, guide and direct us in these last days, that by following his counsel we will be able to obtain the Celestial kingdom. I support and love our local church leaders and continue to prey for their health and continued guidance for us as a ward. I do love each and every one of you and do truly appreciate the support and love shown us since we have moved into this ward. I know the Book of Mormon is true and is here as another testament of Jesus Christ. Brothers and Sisters I hope that all of you have the “Ultimate Hope” in the atonement of Jesus Christ and that our lives will be a little brighter and happier because of it, I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
